If 2010 was the year of catfights, then 2011 might just well be the year of patch-ups in Bollywood. Blame it on the awards season, which made it mandatory for the actors to cross paths under extreme public glare and basic politeness becoming the order of the day,air-kissing seems to have replaced the claws at least for now.
Never mind, if, as insiders point out, that all this is just a veil to cover the simmering displeasure against each other, that they made so obvious last year.
Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra may have made open digs at each other, but the two actors met each other like long-lost sahelis when they bumped into each other at a recent event. Actress Deepika Padukone is now on a rather diplomatic mode after Rishi Kapoor lashed out against the actress for having spoken about son Ranbir, in not so flattering ways. And according to a source, the actress has learnt a lesson and sworn off showing her catty side.
Actresses Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan too went overboard with their dosti, despite the speculation of the two sharing cold undercurrents during the promo rounds of their film No One Killed Jessica. However an insider insists, “Ask them if they have exchanged a single message after the release or any even during the promo rounds and the answer will be a ‘no’!”
“What you see is definitely not what you get here,” says a veteran film producer. “An actor taking the first step towards showing a cordial friendship in public is mostly an assertive way to say that the person is not insecure about the other actor. But they would not stop bitching the moment their backs are turned,” he adds.
